Crosswind / Seitenwind

Today it was pretty windy and every student canceled their flights due to wind. This was the perfect opportunity for me to go and practice crosswind landings. So I went up with my supervisor and we practiced takeoff s in winds that were 90 degrees to our takeoff heading and about 18 knots with occasional gusts up to 30 knots. It was very productive and challenging.
/ Heute war es sehr windig. So windig, dass alle Studenten ihre Flüge abbrachen. So hatte ich die Gelegenheit mit meinem Supervisor zu fliegen. Wir flogen in Wind der 90 Grad zu unserer Landebahn war und 18 Knoten stark war mit vereinzelten Windböhen bis zu 30 Knoten. Es war eine sehr produktive und herausfordernde Zeit.

In class / Im Klassenzimmer

This morning out students have class. Christopher Bowers is teaching in Air Traffic Control. All The instructors and our supervisor for this class are sitting in. There is always something new to learn! / Heute Morgen haben unsere Studenten Schulunterricht. Christopher Bowers unterrichtet aus dem Segment der Luftfahrtkontrolle. Alle Instruktoren und unser Supervisor sind Anwesend für diese Lektion. Es gibt immer etwas neues zu lernen.

Ayden and Cohen in the tree / Ayden und Cohen auf dem Baum

We have a little tree (15 feet) in our front yard. Ayden has been climbing it for over a year now. Recently Cohen has discovered tree climbing as a fun activity and with the help of his bigger brother, he as well makes it into the tree... Sometimes even all the way up to the very top, where he has to get rescued by Mom / Wir haben eine kleinen Baum ( 3 Meter ) in unserem Garten vor dem Haus. Ayden entdeckte diesen Kletterbaum schon vor einer ganzen Weile. Cohen hingegen entdeckte das Baumklettern erst kürzlich. Nun, mit Hilfe seines älteren Bruders, schafft es auch Cohen in den Baum. Manchmal auch ganz nach oben in den Gipfel des Baumes, wo er dann von Mom gerettet werden muss.

Cross country / Überlandflug

Two weeks ago I went on the first cross country with my students. This picture is on approach for the airport grand culee (3W7). Which sits in a little valley right on the water / Vor zwei Wochen bin ich mit meinen Studenten auf den ersten längeren Überlandflug gegangen. Dieses Foto ist vom Anflug zum Flughafen Grand Culee (3W7). Dieser Flughafen befindet sich in einem kleinen Tal, direkt neben dem Wasser an einem See.
